From her interview with Elle magazine:

A lot of the stuff people say about her, I hear it and my stomach falls because it's so sexist. You ask people why they don't like her and it's because her husband cheated on her! That was obviously not her choice. She's so much more polished and experienced than anyone else. Last night, a friend, a social worker in L.A. who works with underprivileged kids, was saying how these girls who have never been interested in politics before are so excited that a woman might be president. I mean, look how many women are in government...Hillary's one of, what, [a handful of] female senators?

I also like Obama. I even like McCain. I disagree with his war stance--which is a really big deal--but I think he's a very moral person. I met him and Hillary on the same day, actually, when I went to Washington with Finca [a nonprofit that gives loans to businesswomen in developing countries]. Hillary was by far the smartest person I met that day. Just totally focused, and knew more about the issues than anyone else, and was so able to go from one thing to the other.

This campaign, thought up by the inimitable Red Queen, is a public expression of the outrage that many of us feel at the hatred directed at Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.  I, as both a Hillary Clinton supporter, and as a person who realizes that these attacks are not just about Hillary but about me, am taking this moment to stand and say that I am Hillary Clinton.  

When Senator Clinton is criticized as "negative," or "ambitious," or any of the other traits necessarily shared by all politicians, it is a reminder that should I ever achieve success, the qualities necessary for that success will be used to discredit me.

When Senator Clinton is singled out for unpopular or difficult positions held by both candidates, it is not only a distortion of the political facts, but it is also an unquestioned acceptance and perpetuation of the cultural maxim that says "a woman must be twice as good to receive half as much credit as a man."  It is a reminder that no matter what I do, I will not be good enough.

I will not be shamed or frightened by these tactics.  I support Senator Clinton.  I stand behind her with ferocity and pride.

Long recognized as a rising star, Villaraigosa was named one of "America's Best Leaders" by U.S. News & World Report, and has been featured on the cover of Newsweek and named one of the 25 most influential Latinos by Time Magazine. He is the first Latino to serve as Mayor of Los Angeles since 1872.

Villaraigosa previously served as Speaker of the California Assembly, passing legislation to expand children's healthcare, ban assault weapons and create the largest network of urban neighborhood parks in the country.

Villaraigosa is a co-Chair of Hillary's national campaign.

Gallup poll shows Nearly 4 in 10 of those who least want to see Obama elected (39%) say they believe he is "inexperienced" or "not qualified" to be president.

Clinton's highest negative is on people not trusting her at 24%, but still 15% points lower than Obama's "inexperienced/not qualified."

As for McCain, he's got a negative trifecta: 27% on Iraq; 25% too much like Bush; 23 % simply because he's a Republican. Uphill climb all the way.

Clinton can help her likability negatives. There's not much Obama can do about the "inexperience" or "not qualified" quotient.

what's interesting, and almost never discussed, is that he built his entire legislative record in Illinois in a single year.

Last June, to prove his commitment to government transparency, Obama released a comprehensive list of his earmark requests for fiscal year 2008. It comprised more than $300 million in pet projects for Illinois, including tens of millions for Jones's Senate district.
